Vi speed test
Vi — Vodafone and Idea merged into one network whose quality swings hard from circle to circle. This test shows what Vi is giving you right now: throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, and whether it’s fit for your games and calls.

Speed test
How fast is your internet, really?
One run measures download, upload, ping, jitter, packet loss and latency under load — then tells you what that means for your games and streams.

Test failed
Something went wrong while running the test.
Packet loss and “under load” latency are estimated over HTTP from the browser — no ICMP is available on the web. Speeds are measured against the nearest Cloudflare edge location and never leave your device.
Gaming network test
Will your connection hold up in a ranked match?
Ping, jitter and packet loss decide whether your shots land where you aimed. Run the speed test above and we’ll score your connection from 0 to 100 for competitive gaming — based on the numbers games actually care about.

The network
How Vi actually works
One brand, very different circles
Vi inherited two networks and has been consolidating them. In circles where the merged network is dense, Vi is competitive with anyone; in thinner areas, capacity and maintenance show. Your address determines your answer more than with any other operator.
5G is behind the leaders
Vi’s 5G rollout has been slower and narrower than Jio’s and Airtel’s. Most users are on 4G, where a healthy signal delivers 10–50 Mbps — fine for streaming and calls, and workable for gaming when ping behaves.
Speed depends on signal more than usual
Because capacity per cell varies, Vi performance collapses quickly at the edge of signal: a phone showing one bar may still pull a speedtest number but with jitter and packet loss that ruin voice and games.
What to expect
- Typical 4G download
- 10–50 Mbps in strong areas
- Typical 5G download
- Only in select rollout pockets
- Typical upload
- 3–15 Mbps
- Typical idle ping
- 30–80 ms to Indian servers
- What a good result looks like
- Ping ≤ 60 ms, jitter ≤ 20 ms, loss ≤ 1%
Troubleshooting
Why Vi feels slow — and how to fix it
Quality varies street by street
A Vi result from your office needn’t match one from your home. Consolidation, backhaul and tower load differ per site, so an average taken elsewhere tells you little about your own connection.
Fix — Build your own map: test at home, work and commute spots with this tool — results save locally for comparison. If your main location is weak, that’s decision-grade information.
Low-signal jitter and loss
At weak signal, raw download can still look acceptable while jitter and packet loss climb. That combination is exactly what makes game characters teleport and call audio crackle.
Fix — Watch the jitter and loss tiles, not just download. If loss exceeds 1% indoors, retest near a window; if it drops to 0%, the walls — not the ISP — are the problem.
Plan windows shift your experience
Some Vi plans include night-time data (typically 12 AM–6 AM), which means daytime quotas and off-peak plenty — your speed test at 2 PM may not reflect the connection you get at 1 AM.
Fix — Check your plan’s validity and quota windows in the Vi app, then run tests in both windows before concluding anything about the network.
Gaming verdict
Gaming on Vi
Vi can game well where signal is strong — look for ping ≤ 60 ms, jitter ≤ 20 ms and 0% loss on this test. The risk is instability: Vi’s weaker cells produce jitter spikes that hit harder than a slightly higher but steady ping elsewhere. If your result shows good download but jitter above 30 ms, fix the radio side first (position, bands, Wi-Fi calling) before blaming game servers.
A good Vi result looks like
Ping ≤ 60 ms, jitter ≤ 20 ms, loss ≤ 1%
FAQ
Questions about Vi
How accurate is this Vi speed test?
It measures real browser traffic over multi-stream transfers to the nearest Cloudflare edge, with twenty latency probes and a timed upload — treat results as within ±5–10% of line speed. Turn Wi-Fi off to measure the Vi SIM itself.
Why is Vi internet so slow in my area?
Vi’s network quality varies significantly by circle and cell site because of how the merged network is built and maintained. Weak backhaul, low tower density or simple congestion can all be the cause. Test morning and evening from two or three spots — if every location and hour is poor, the local network is the limit.
Is Vi good for online gaming?
Conditionally. Where signal is strong, Vi delivers playable ping and jitter — the kind of result this test grades B or better. Where signal is weak, jitter and packet loss climb and competitive games suffer. Judge by the jitter and loss tiles on this page, not by the download number.
Why is Vi upload speed so low?
Mobile networks are downlink-heavy by design: upload typically lands at 3–15 Mbps against 10–50 Mbps down. That is enough for calls and casual streaming. If upload is under 1 Mbps with good signal, retest with Wi-Fi and battery saver off before contacting support.
Do Vi night data plans actually give full speed?
Night-window plans typically allow unlimited or extra data during their off-peak hours at normal network speed. Your actual throughput in that window still depends on local tower load — run this test between 12 AM and 6 AM and compare it with a daytime result from the same spot.
